Second place where a new immigrant will have to deal with this issue is after opening a card at health maintenance organization (HMO) provider. While health services in Israel are free, you need to keep in mind that this applies to basic health services. It does not mean that if you need to have an operation under basic health service provider, they will not operate you. You will receive best care and operation possible under the basic plan.
